Avanti West Coast’s low-cost Superfare ticket wins at Spotlight Rail Awards

Avanti West Coast’s innovative low-cost ticket, Superfare, has been honoured at this year’s Spotlight Rail Awards.
The Superfare ticket won the “Delivering for the Customer” category at the annual awards, which celebrate excellence in the rail sector.
Judges recognised the improved customer experience the Superfare ticket has delivered across the West Coast following its launch last year.
Superfare enables customers to book a journey for a specific date with the choice of morning, afternoon, or evening slots at a cheaper fare – with the exact time of travel selected by Avanti West Coast.
With around 24 hours’ notice, the intercity operator will match customers to an empty seat on a quieter train and advise them of their reservation details and train’s departure time.
The cheaper fare is available for single journeys from London to select destinations on the West Coast – with prices for a one-way ticket costing between £9 and £30.
Since its launch in early 2023, over 40,000 Superfare tickets have been sold for journeys to destinations including Birmingham, Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester, and Preston.
Bookings can be made at least seven days and up to 21 days before travel, and the number of tickets available each day varying by route.
